The Star Bar Billiards Ladder (SBBL)

bar billiards table

Introduction

This page details the results and rules of the bar billiards ladder being run at the Star in Godalming. Participants need to report their results on the ladder's WhatsApp group. Anyone, of any ability, can join if they supply their name and mobile number to star@yourthrow.co.uk and are able to attend games on the newly refurbished table in the pub.

Entry to the ladder is FREE!

There are cues and chalk by the table. You are allowed to use your own cue if you want to.

Each game costs £1 to play, except on Tuesdays (see below).

Free Play Tuesdays

To encourage you to compete in the ladder, all games played on Tuesdays will be FREE. Just ask at the bar for a coin to play.

Rules

The rules we are using are simple to follow and can be viewed here. A copy of the rules is framed and hanging by the table.

House Rules
  1. No player may play an identical shot more than three times in a row. For example, if a player pots the red and white to left and right into the 50 holes on their break, they cannot do it four times in a row. They may switch to potting them the other way around for up to three goes, but then they would have to switch to another shot again.
  2. In the unlikely event that any ball ends up on the small leather D where you normally place the cue ball for your turn, that ball should be used as the cue ball unless there is space to place a fresh ball from the baulk tray without them touching, in which case the baulk ball should be used.
  3. Maximum of four players in a match.

What is a match?

The winner of a match is the person who has the highest score after the last ball has been potted.

The Ladder

The ladder contains completed matches only. Each player must complete 10 matches minimum to qualify for the prize. It is ordered by percentage wins (descending) then by points (descending) then alphabetically by first name. Players with names in bold have completed at least one match. Names in blue mean that the player has qualified for the prize.

Highest break

Kev Adams had a break of 1740 against Danny Sykes in the first semi-final.
